Thursday April 9, 2009

Today Rachael, Erika, and I were off to Ireland for the long Easter weekend. We departed out of Pisa on Ryanair to arrive in Dublin by 7:30pm. Half of our plane was full of an Irish teenage girl school group…and you thought flying with crying babies was bad.

From the airport we took a city bus to our hostel in the heart of the city. We dumped off our bags and set out to find some dinner and do some exploring along the way. It was already 10:30pm by now so most of the restaurants were closed but we were directed by our hostel to the popular and touristy Temple Bar area that stayed open later.

The main drag was buzzing with people and full of energy. We were so excited to be here already and this pumped us up even more. Plus everyone was speaking English!!! The cafĂ© we chose for dinner was quaint and surprisingly quite compared to the outdoor liveliness. The weather was much chillier than the seventy degree Florence we had just left so Rachael and I opted for vegetable soup and Erika splurged on the traditional Irish breakfast. Amazingly almost every other restaurant we went to had cream of vegetable as their soup of the day….hmm.

Back at the hostel we fell asleep quickly knowing we had a busy 4 days ahead of us.
